WORCESTER – Robert W. Pike passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 94. He was born on December 6, 1931, in New York City. The son of Harold and Mabel (Doellinger) Pike, Bob was raised in Maywood, New Jersey and attended Bogota High School and Brown University.

Following his graduation from Brown University, Bob joined the United States Navy and proudly served as a jet carrier pilot.

He married Ann Drake Pentland in 1955 and had four children, Robert, Jr., James, Melissa and John.

After Bob left the Navy, he began a long career in Sales and Marketing. Bob worked primarily in the healthcare industry, working at Bristol Myers and Ross and Abbott Laboratories. He served as Vice President and General Manager of Abbott International Division in Puerto Rico from 1983 – 1988. He holds three US Patents for medical devices. After leaving Puerto Rico, he and Ann returned stateside to Holden, MA to be closer to family. He worked at Jefferson Rubber Works in Worcester, Massachusetts from 1988 – 1995.

Bob started his own company, “Curriculum Media” in 1996 and authored several books and a video about the game of checkers. Bob brought his colorful and captivating classroom presentations to local schools in Holden and Worcester, teaching the skills of critical thinking, strategizing and problem solving. He was at one time the Massachusetts State Checker Champion.

Bob and his wife retired to San Diego in 1998, settling near where they had lived when Bob was in the Navy. They enjoyed golf, cruising and reconnecting with old and new friends. After Anns death, Bob eventually returned to Worcester where he was a resident of The Willows community.

He is survived by his three sons, Robert Pike, Jr. and his wife, Terri, James Pike and his wife, Kelly and John Pike and his wife, Jean; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bob is predeceased by his wife, Ann and daughter, Melissa.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
