WORCESTER – Nicknamed “Birdie” at a very early age, Mrs. Chase, a lifetime resident of Worcester died on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.

She was the wife of the late Paul Chase who passed away in December 2009 after being happily married for 61 years. They enjoyed traveling, attending musical theater, playing Scrabble and following the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by 3 nephews and 1 niece: Bruce Brown of Essex Junction, VT, Debra Brown Felser (Gary) of Baltimore, Jeffrey Brown of Hinsdale, NH, and Steven Wolfe (Judy) of Worcester. Also, grandnieces, Maddie Brown (Stephanie Fakharzadeh) of Hamden, CT, Hannah (Eric Miller) of Milford, MA, and Gabrielle Wolfe (Darren McGinley) of Auburn, ME, and grandnephew David Wolfe (Kelly) of East Brookfield. Also, four great grandnieces make up the newest generation: Willow Serenity Wolfe, Shayna Hannah McGinley, Bailey Simone Brown, and Violet Rose Wolfe.

Mrs. Chase was born in Worcester on October 6, 1928 to the late Saul and Rose E. (Edinberg) Brown. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter M. Brown and his wife, Barbara, by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gladys and Milton Wolfe, and by nephew Gary Brown.

“Birdie” graduated from Classical High School in 1946 and received her Associate of Science Degree from the former School of Practical Letters (PAL) of Boston University.

She was employed as a financial secretary for over 35 years, retiring in 1985. In her spare time, she volunteered for several organizations and was a life member of many local groups, both religious and nonsectarian. She was a Girl Scout leader and was proud of her 85-year membership pin.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence for making the transition a very fulfilling decade of new experiences and new friends for “Birdie”.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence, 631 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at B’nai Brith Cemetery. Immediately following the interment service, Memorial Observance will be held at the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence, 631 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (www.eisenbergal.org).
