BOYLSTON – Roger A. Berard, beloved husband of Pauline R. (Harper) Berard, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of the late Honore and Viola (Provost) Berard.
Roger proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his service, he went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a painting contractor. He was also a talented carpenter and made many furniture items for his children over the years. Roger’s hobbies included fishing and working on his most recent puzzle. Roger loved spending his summers on the beaches of Cape Cod creating lasting memories for his family.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 71 years, Pauline: his daughter, Diane Riopel and her husband, John of West Boylston; his sons including Raymond Berard and his wife, Carol of Worcester, Steven Berard and his wife, Suzanne of Boylston and Dave Berard of Holden; his three sisters, Janet Leuci of FL, Viola Zenaro of Paxton and Gloria Kittredge of OH; grandchildren, Michael Berard, Christina Santiago, Jeffrey Riopel, Justin Riopel, Jessica Newell and Tyler Berard; great-grandchildren, Harper, Aubree, Cole, Lucas and Leonardo; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Berard; two sisters, Dolores Donahue and Irene Leonard; and his granddaughter, Allison Riopel.
The family would like to thank the Brookhaven team for their support and care.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 8 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 9 at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Burial will full military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 385 Main Street, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Cancer Research or to a charity of your choice.
