JEFFERSON – Ronald J. Bergin, 36, of Jefferson, MA, died on June 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

He was born on January 15, 1989, in Worcester, the son of Catherine (Bergin) Tomlin. Ronald grew up locally and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School. He went on to attend day programs at the Mercy Center, Open Sky Community Services, and Alternatives of Worcester, where he built meaningful connections and was supported by many compassionate caregivers and peers.

Ronald was a joyful and vibrant soul who found happiness in the things he loved most. A devoted Pokémon card collector for over two decades, he also had a passion for comic books, superheroes, and horror movies. He participated proudly in the Special Olympics, earning medals in several sports throughout his lifetime, and shared his love of competition through bowling and a deep love for bocce. Ronald was an avid gamer, with his favorite video games always close at hand, and he especially enjoyed trips to Foxwoods Casino, where he embraced the excitement and fun of the experience.

Known for his big heart and bright smile, Ronald had a special way of lifting the spirits of everyone around him. His laughter and energy left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Hazel Bergin, and his maternal grandfather, Paul Bergin—each of whom held a significant place in his heart.

Ronald is survived by his mother, Catherine Tomlin of Jefferson, whose love for him was immeasurable, and his stepfather, George Tomlin of Jefferson; his brother, Curtis L’Heureux of Jefferson; his aunt, Regina Gray; his step-grandmother, Beverly Bergin; and many cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and specialists who cared for Ronald throughout his life, including those at Reliant Medical Group, Boston Children’s Hospital, UMass Memorial, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Hartford Hospital. Special thanks are also offered to the Holden first responders for their dedication and compassion, and to the incredible teachers and coaches who supported Ronald over the years—he truly admired each of you, and your impact on his life was profound.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
