HOLDEN - Dr. Daniel R. Silver, M.D., 56, Born February 1, 1952 in New York, NY, he grew up in Valley Stream, NY and eventually settled in Holden, MA in 1991. Dr. Silver graduated from Union College in 1975 and went on to earn an MS in Science Teaching from Boston College in 1977 and an MD from the University of Guadalajara School of Medicine in 1982.
An accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist, Dr. Silver compiled a collection of his songs on a CD entitled "Your Decision" in 1996. He loved performing with his band, playing guitars and listening to the Beatles. He was an avid cyclist and runner and enjoyed a healthy lifestyle. He was a loyal Giants fan, standing by them in their seasons of despair and reveled in their Super Bowl victory. Dr. Silver enjoyed the simple things in life, often stopping to "smell the roses" and admire the world around him on his frequent bike rides. Above all of his interests was his love and dedication for his family and their happiness. His passion for helping others was apparent in the care he delivered to patients throughout his community.
Dan passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Rosann, his three sons, Brian, Michael and Craig, his mother Marion and his brother Marc. He was predeceased by his father Sidney.
A funeral service for Dr. Silver will held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
