HOLDEN – Ruth M. (Clockedile) Spaulding, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Saint Vincent Hospital. Born in Worcester and raised in Paxton, Ruth was the daughter of Leroy and Marion (Blanchard) Clockedile and lived 61 years in Jefferson.
Ruth graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Dick Spaulding that same year. Dick and Ruth moved to the Jefferson section of Holden the following year where they raised their four children. She worked as an attendance clerk at Wachusett Regional High School for over 10 years and later worked 15 years for the Higher Education Consortium of Central Mass delivering library books.
She took pride in helping organize the annual Clockedile Family Reunions for over 40 years. She was an active member of Oakdale United Methodist Church including its Women’s Group. Ruth was also a member and volunteer for Wachusett Greenways and chairman of the Springdale Mill Committee. She loved spending time with her family and vacationing at their summer camp in Pittsburg, New Hampshire. She also enjoyed playing cards with her husband and friends, watching birds in her backyard, and following her beloved Boston Red Sox. Ruth will be remembered for her fun-loving personality and devotion to her faith and family.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 61 years, Richard “Dick” G. Spaulding, Sr.; two sons, Richard “Rick” G. Spaulding, Jr. and his wife Susan, Roger D. Spaulding and his wife Ann, all of Jefferson; two daughters, Robin L. Baldarelli and her husband Ed of West Boylston, Ronda M. Coccio and her husband, Mark of Burbank, CA; two brothers, Lawrence Clockedile of Port Ritchie, FL and Arthur Clockedile of Paxton; six grandchildren, Tammy Keyes, Alissa and Amy Baldarelli, Maggie Spaulding, and Gabriela and Niko Coccio; three great grandchildren, Maeghan, Andrew and Avery Keyes; many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Ronald and Kenneth Clockedile and three sisters, Doris Smith, Irene Fitzgibbons and Gladys Wood.
