Ruth A. (Stuart) Parkinson

February 17, 1917 — December 4, 2012

STERLING – Ruth A. (Stuart) Parkinson, 95, formerly of Clinton Road, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston. Born in Sterling, Ruth was the daughter of John A. and Anna M. (Ziegler) Stuart and lived most of her life in Sterling.



She was a graduate of Clinton High School and Braum’s Academy majoring in hairdressing. Ruth was a homemaker, caring for her family and also worked as a housekeeper at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was a member of the First Church in Sterling and the Order of the Eastern Star in Clinton.



Ruth will be remembered by her family and close friends for her dedication to the First Church in Sterling and her love of her family. She enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling.



Her loving husband of 62 years, Eugene A. Parkinson, died in 1999. Ruth is survived by her children, John M. Parkinson of Portsmouth, RI, Richard S. Parkinson and his wife Julie of Jefferson and Ann L. Parkinson and her wife Joyce of Holden; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 7, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P.O.
