Sallyann Slover Murphy

Sallyann Slover Murphy. Amazing, strong, compassionate, a gentle soul, are only a few words to describe our devoted and loving mother. She never realized just how much she accomplished in her 94 years. Raising 4 children on her own. Going back to college twice earning her Teaching and Master’s degree all while making sure her children had a normal life. Somehow finding time to be a cub scout leader, softball coach, Girl Scout helper. Encouraging her children to try new things. Making sure our summers were filled with fun, either spending time at her parent’s cottage on Lake Ontario, or lazy summer days in the neighborhood.

She maintained lifelong friendships from her days at Becker College and Worcester State University.

She appreciated and was grateful for those who helped her, especially her neighbor and friend Barbara L., all the grandparents, and the priests at the College of the Holy Cross where she worked. Encouraging her to continue her education and took the time to get to know her and her family by visiting and spending time playing their guitars while she played piano knowing her love for music.

She leaves behind her daughter with whom she lived, Audrey Travers, daughter Sheilagh Murphy. Grandchildren, Rachael Morrison, Nicole Myerson (Tim), Ashley Stranieri, Terry Murphy Jr., Daniel Travers Jr. (Shelly), Dylan Travers (Dana). Great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Lexi, Teagan, Layla, Payten, and Andi. Daughter in law, Patty Murphy.

Her sons Terry Murphy and Dale Murphy predeceased her. She missed them greatly and never got over the heartbreak of their deaths.

She was never afraid to laugh at herself and never gave up when life got hard.

Mom, I wish you knew just how strong, supportive and inspiring you were. Always putting our needs ahead of your own. I hope in these last few years, I showed you that your needs were just as important and were now the priority. I hope all of our adventures brought you joy and peace.
