RUTLAND – Sandra M. (Smith) Court, 69, of Rutland, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 in UMass Memorial Healthcare after an extended illness.
She leaves her mother, Frances M. (Cavanaugh) Smith of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; a brother, Carl G. Smith of Port St. Lucy, Forida; a sister, Dawna F. Dolloff of Waterboro, Maine; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews and many good friends including Janice Ryan. Sandy was born in Biddeford, Maine, daughter of the late Gordon G. Smith. She was a graduate of the Maine Medical Hospital School of Nursing.
Sandy was a pediatric charge nurse at Holden District Hospital, a supervisor at Rutland Heights Hospital and a nurse for the late Dr. LeRoy Mayo. In later years she was an active member of the First Baptist Church and volunteered at the “Corner Shop” in the First Cong. Church of Holden. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Holden Council on Aging and the Holden Historical Society.
A memorial service for Sandy will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11th, in the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Donations may be made in her memory to Sweet Pea Friends of Rutland Animals, Inc., P.O. Box 897, Rutland, MA 01543, or to the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte 122A), Holden, is directing arrangements.
