WORCESTER – Dr. Satish Chandra Shrivastava of Worcester passed away on the 2nd of May, 2025. He was born to Jagannath Prasad and Indira Shrivastava in Raipur, India.
After a brief illness, Satish C. Shrivastava, 94, died peacefully on Thursday, May 2nd, 2025, at the Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester. He was born on August 26th, 1930, in Raipur India and grew up there and in Saraipali. His father was a civil servant who was engaged in progressive Hindu Reform movements.
Although Satish loved mathematics, he studied medicine at the Government Medical College of Nagpur and completed his training in Cambridge, England. While working at the teaching hospital Leeds General Infirmary he met his future wife Renate, who was training as a nurse. They married in 1965 and lived in England, Scotland and India before settling in Worcester with their two daughters. Satish was an internist in Worcester and later Webster. He was critical of the organization of the American medical system and corresponded with his congressman and senator to share his views.
He was an avid photographer and took pictures of his surroundings at work and at home for many decades. He was an eager storyteller to his children and conveyed his interest in politics and labor issues, organizing trips to local factories.
Satish will be missed by his daughters, Anjana Shrivastava and her partner, Harald Hentrich and Sheila Shrivastava and her husband, David Gill and his grandchildren, Indira Geisel, Emma Gill and Helene Gill.
Funeral services honoring and celebrating Satish's life will be held on Monday, June 9th. Family and friends are invited to attend the interment at 10:00 a.m. at Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Holden and/or the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Holden. A reception will follow the church service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church. 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA.
