Seymour Weinstein

WORCESTER - Seymour Weinstein, a resident of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on February 15, 2019 in Delray Medical Center in Delray, Florida, 3 days before his 91st birthday. Since the 1970's, he loved spending his winters in Boca Raton and upon his retirement in 2012, moved to Boca Raton permanently.

He spent most of his life in Worcester where he attended Providence St. School, Classical H. S. and Clark University. He attended the University of Michigan Law School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his discharge in 1953, he returned to Worcester where he practiced law until 2012 at the offices of Burwick and Burwick, Weinstein, Bernstein & Burwick and Weinstein & Weinstein.

Seymour loved to golf and was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Country Club. He was a former member of Temple Emanuel Sinai and Congregation Beth Israel. His life was devoted to family and the practice of law. Seymour was a past President of the Worcester County Bar Association, Vice President of the Massachusetts Bar Association, member of the Governor’s Judicial Nominating Committee, member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and honored by Best Lawyers in America and Massachusetts Super Lawyers. He was a fierce adversary in court, a mentor to many lawyers and judges, a loyal friend, and beloved by his clients and family. Seymour was a larger than life personality.

He was the son of the late Moses and Rebecca Weinstein and is survived by his wife for nearly 67 years, Janet Weinstein of Boca Raton, FL; son, Jordan Weinstein and his wife, Claudia Fiks of Uxbridge; daughter, Susan Delaney of Boca Raton; brother, Milton Weinstein of Weston; sister, Rosalyn Liftman and her husband, Charles Liftman of Canton; six grandchildren, one step-grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 20, in Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
