SPENCER – Shannon B. Finn, 38, of Woodland Lane, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. She was born and raised in Worcester the daughter of the late Thomas L. Finn, Jr., and was a 1991 graduate of Burncoat Senior High School. Shannon lived in Maine for many years before moving to Spencer. She started her career as a certified nurse’s aide. Later, she graduated from Southern Maine Community College and became licensed as a registered nurse. She worked the last four years at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton.
Shannon was an exceptional nurse who loved her profession and her patients. Her energy and passion made her an outstanding mentor for many young nurses. Shannon had a true passion for golf. Recently, she went sky diving and obtained her motorcycle license. Shannon was known for her zest for life, compassion and gentle nature.
She leaves her mother, M. Shelley (Munns) Finn with whom she lived; a stepson, Thomas Gold of New Brunswick, Maine; her sister, Megan M. Halloran and her husband Robert of Spencer; her maternal grandmother, Margaret M. Munns of North Brookfield; and two beloved nieces and nephew, Mikayla, Fiona, and Brendan. She also leaves many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26, at Mary Queen of the Rosary, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Elm Street, North Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shannon’s memory may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Fund, c/o UMass Medicine Development Office, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545; or the Second Chance Animal Shelter, Inc., 111 Young Road, P.O.
