PAXTON — Shelley B. (Witkin) Kashuk, 74, passed away peacefully at home on January 30th, surrounded by the love of her family, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was the devoted and loving wife of Gerald “Gerry” Kashuk, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Shelley was the proud and loving mother of one incredible daughter, a cherished grandmother, a beloved sister, and a dear friend to the many wonderful people whose lives she touched and who so deeply enriched her own.

Born in Worcester, Shelley was the daughter of the late Nathan and Muriel (Goodman) Witkin, and sister to the late Carol Witkin. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for Fairlawn and Fallon Hospitals for many years before her retirement.

Shelley was actively involved as a volunteer at the Wachusett Food Pantry in Sterling for many years, giving generously of her time and heart. She loved crafting handmade cards for her family and friends, each one a small work of art that became a cherished keepsake for those who received them. Her happy place was St. John, USVI, where she and Gerry vacationed for 30 years, creating countless treasured memories. Shelley’s life was deeply enriched by the long-standing and close friendships she shared with her beloved family and dearest friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerry; her daughter, Jill and her husband, Jason; and her grandson, Brandon Ricardo, of Framingham. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Jewish Healthcare Hospice Program, as well as Shelley’s devoted aides—affectionately known as “Tall” Margaret, “Short” Margaret, Joyce, and Magdalene—who provided such loving, compassionate, and dignified care.

A funeral service for Shelley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street, Worcester, followed by interment at Holy Society Cemetery in Leicester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522, Jewish Healthcare, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester 01609, or Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
