Sherrill Costa

AUBURN - Sherrill A. Costa, 82, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Milo, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Vera (Hoxie) Megquier. Sherry earned her associate's degree in nursing and devoted more than 37 years to her career as a licensed practical nurse at UMass University Hospital, retiring after decades of dedicated practice.

Known affectionately as 'Nana,' Sherry held her family close, especially her four granddaughters. She cherished her time spent at 'The Camp' up in Maine, where she instilled in her loved ones a deep appreciation for nature and the small joys in life. Whether gardening, painting, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors, she found peace in life's simple pleasures. Sherry had a way of making everything brighter, infusing even the smallest moments with laughter, kindness, and an unwavering spirit.

Sherry leaves behind her loving children, Becky Gardner and her husband Robert of Jefferson and Gregory Costa and his wife Annmarie of Shrewsbury; her adored grandchildren, Emily Flamand and her husband Brandon, Lauren Gardner, Olivia Costa, and Alanna Costa; her sister Sandra Clark and her husband Ken and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Janice Kendall, Donna Knowles, and Ronald Drew.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Rose Monahan Hospice House for their kind compassionate care provided to Sherry.

A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mass Audubon to encourage all of us to enjoy the simple pleasure of a walk in the woods.
