BARRE – Stanley M. “Stan” Oldakowski, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 26, 2025 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Holden, he was the son of Stanley Oldakowski and the late Catherine (Tucholski) Oldakowski.
Stan was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School with the class of 1976. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines.
For most of his career, Stan worked as a correctional officer at Gardner State Prison and later worked as a driver for Loomis. Always staying busy, he simultaneously owned and operated his own landscape company, Fair Deal Lawn Care. His most recent job and most rewarding was working for his daughter and his son-in-law at their grocery store, Wholesome Farmers Market in Barre, where he worked alongside his family. Outside of work, Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the casino, and traveling.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 41 years, Marie (Servideo) Oldakowski; his daughter, Sarah Thorng and her husband, William of Sturbridge; 3 brothers, Edward Oldakowski and his wife, Nancy of Paxton, Thomas Oldakowski and his wife, Elizabeth of West Boylston, Michael Oldakowski and his wife, Amy of West Boylston; 4 grandchildren, William III, Brodrick, Beyla, Goldie, and a 5th one on the way.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Stan’s family from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 2nd, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital online at https://www.stjude.org/.
