PRINCETON/LUNENBURG – Charles Stanley Drougis, 85, formerly of Princeton and Lunenburg, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 in Knollwood Nursing Center.
His wife, Helen (Brown) Drougis died on July 13th. He leaves two daughters, Carol Sorblom and her husband Roy, and Sharon Ash and her husband Jerry all of Princeton; five grandchildren, Kimberly Ash of Pawtucket, RI, Emily Murphy of Westwood, Jana Minio of Marlboro, Jenny Sorblom of Quincy, and Charles Sorblom of Franklin; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. His first wife, Ruth (Roberts) Drougis, died in 1976. He was born and raised in Princeton the son of Charles and Margaret (Krauchnas) Drougis and later lived 35 years in Lunenburg.
Mr. Drougis graduated from Princeton Center School, Holden High School and Worcester Junior College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by Wain Roy, Inc. in Hubbardston, where he worked 35 years retiring in 1987 as the Northeast District Sales Manager. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Princeton, Mt. Zion Lodge of Masons in Barre, and a life member of the National Riffle Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12th, in the Miles–Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral service for Mr. Drougis will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 13th, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Connor Lane, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
