WORCESTER - Stephen Dann, age 74, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. Born in Worcester, Steve was the son of Milton and Esther (Zulofsky) Dann, and was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts.
Steve graduated from Burncoat High School, eventually earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Political Science from Northeastern University. He was a devoted chess enthusiast and wrote a chess column for several decades for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. He was also an active member of the Massachusetts Chess Association, serving as its Volunteer Coordinator for several years. In addition, he was an avid coin collector and art distributor. Steve was also a passionate admirer of the character and history of Worcester.
Steve is survived by his children, Michelle Dann and Marshall Dann. He was predeceased by his wife, Roni (Nissenbaum) Dann in 2022.
Family and friends will gather to honor Steve’s memory at a Graveside Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 9 at B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Road, Worcester. Arrangements are in the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
