Sue Ellen Moriarty

August 10, 1943 — April 11, 2026

Worcester- Sue- Suzie (Ocken) Moriarty, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at UMass Memorial Healthcare- Memorial campus in Worcester. Born in Worcester, She was the beloved daughter of the late Philp and Sadye ( Feldman) Ocken and a sister of Arlene Simmons of Covina CA. and a proud graduate of Commerce High school.

Sue devoted over 40 years of her life to serving others as a Special Education Teacher at the Mercy Centre in Worcester, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Her dedication and compassion were not only evident in her work, but most deeply in the way she cared for her family and friends. She found the greatest joy in loving and supporting those closest to her, Everyone who knew her recognized her as a truly selfless and devoted caregiver. She shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband and one true love, James W. Moriarty, with whom she built a life centered on love, warmth and togetherness while raising their two children. Sue found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She delighted in cooking and baking, always preparing for the next holiday gathering or family celebration, where her home became a place of comfort, laughter, and cherished memories.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her devoted husband James W, Moriarty of Worcester; her son, Timothy Moriarty and his wife, Myhanh, of Orange, CA; her daughter, Wendy (Moriarty) Deviney of Worcester; her cherished grandchildren, Addison Deviney, Aidan Deviney, Danielle Moriarty, and Nicolette Moriarty. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces and her lifelong best friend Esther DiPietro. Where they shared endless laughter, lasting memories, and their friendship was a true testament to loyalty and love, one that will be cherished forever, Sue’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. She will be remembered for the warmth she made everyone feel.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, at Miles Funeral home, 1158 Main street, Holden. A funeral service celebrating Sue’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m on Monday April 20, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. The family wishes to have a private gathering following the services. Please omit flowers.
