Susan A. Kennedy

STERLING - Susan (Wronski) Kennedy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026 with her husband by her side after a courageous 5-year battle with lung cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Brian Kennedy; a daughter, Jillian, and her husband, James of Sterling; her two precious grandchildren, Jameson and Kennedy and her sister, Karen Hesselberg of Plymouth, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Susan was the beloved daughter of Harold and Mary (Wright) Wronski. In her early years, she helped her father and grandfather, Joseph, manage the family dairy farm, leading the cows from the big red barn across from Route 140 to the field next to Stillwater River. She loved the farm life with her horses Cindy and Honey.

After completing her local education, she went on to obtain her nursing degree in 1975 and proudly maintained her license and continued to use her knowledge and skills to care for others throughout her life. Susan was an exceptionally talented and compassionate nurse, working in many areas of medicine including med-surg at Clinton Hospital, Occupational Health at Leominster Hospital and family medicine at UMass Lake Ave. She also worked private duty in-home care and volunteered at the Epworth free medical clinic in Worcester. She had a natural affinity for caring for patients that went far beyond clinical knowledge and skill. Caring for people was simply part of who she was. Each patient she cared for was met with kindness and compassion and she led a purposeful life and career, helping hundreds of people.

Susan enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the holidays and birthdays. When hosting holidays, she would often present an impressive array of homemade appetizers and entrees, followed by several elaborate desserts. She had a keen eye for interior design and enjoyed decorating her home. She loved to shop, especially for her grandkids, often picking up the latest trends for back-to-school clothing. Susan also loved to travel and spent many years traveling with her husband to Paris, Rome, Venice, London, Normandy, Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica and Hawaii. She enjoyed spending time at her favorite beaches in Clearwater, Florida, Ogunquit, Maine, Misquamicut, RI and Cape Cod.

Susan excelled in many roles throughout her life; as a nurse, a wife, and a mother, but her greatest joy was being a Nana to her two grandchildren. She rarely missed a karate ceremony, baseball or basketball game, or dance recital, always cheering them on with pride. And she never missed an opportunity to spoil them with a piece of candy!

Susan will be remembered for her kindness and generosity that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the lives of family, friends, and those fortunate enough to have known her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling, MA on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org) or the charity of your choice.
