Biography
WORCESTER – Sydell (Tepper) Israel died on Monday, August 11, in the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence at 631 Salisbury Street.
Her husband of 65 years, Leonard Israel, died in 2012. She leaves a son, Mark Israel and his fiancée, Joni Fraser of South Hadley; two daughters, Ellen Israel of Worcester and Judith Israel of Newton; a brother, Maurice Tepper of Chappaqua, NY and four grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Alexander, and Adam. She was born in Bronx, NY and was the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Baehr) Tepper and had lived in Worcester for 67 years.
She was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai, the Jewish Healthcare Center, B’Nai Brith Women and Worcester Chapter of Hadassah. She was very active in youth programs including Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She loved to participate in acting in plays. She enjoyed travel to all parts of the world.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Worcester Jewish Federation for many years.
She graduated from Hunter College in New York City.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 PM ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th, IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI AT 280 MAY STREET UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME IN HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
Memorial Observance will be held through Friday Afternoon, August 15th at the Jewish Healthcare Center, and 5PM to 8 PM on Sunday, August 17th and 5PM to 8PM on Monday, August 18th at her residence.
