Biography
STERLING/GRAFTON – Sylvia D. Lind, 64, of Sterling, formerly of Grafton, died peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus, Worcester. Sylvia was born in Worcester, the daughter of Arnold S. and Ruth C. (Johnson) Lind and lived most of her life in Auburn and Grafton before moving to Sterling 4 years ago.

She is survived by her brother, Jeffrey A. Lind and his wife, Frances of Princeton; three sisters, Karen H. Gaylord of Sterling, Deborah Merritt and her husband, Paul of Millis and Cynthia N. Roix of Worcester; a niece, Lisa E. Roix; two nephews, Thane C. Merritt and his wife, Karen L. and their son, Brady of North Yarmouth, ME and Peter L. Merritt and his wife, Holli and their two children, Alexandra R. and Kendall R. Merrittt; and a grandniece, Nicole Collins.

Sylvia earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UMass, Boston and later earned her MBA from Anna Maria College in Paxton. She worked in the insurance industry for many years, retiring from Flanagan Insurance Agency in 2010. Sylvia also had a passion for teaching and taught part time at several Worcester area schools. Sylvia had a love for athletics and had played basketball, volleyball and softball.

Funeral services for Sylvia are private at the request of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
