Biography
STERLING/LEOMINSTER - Thelma R. (Mathews) Brewer, 92, formerly of Sterling and Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Thelma was born in Worcester on July 14, 1924 to the late Arcay A. and Eva B. (Brousseau) Mathews. She is survived by a daughter, Sandi Ball and her husband, Gene of Texas; a daughter, Belinda LaTulippe and her husband, John of Rochester, N.H.; a son, John Brewer and his wife, Claire of Litchfield, N.H.; a brother, Earl Mathews and his wife, Gail of Millbury; grandchildren, Zachary, Lisa, Keith and Colleen; several great grandchildren, cousin, Claire, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, John P. Brewer, Jr.; a brother, Arthur Mathews; a sister, Rita Dumas; and her grandson, John LaTulippe. Thelma was a long time resident of Sterling, but at the time of her death she was living in Leominster. Thelma will always be remembered for her fierce independence, living alone at the age of 92 and still enjoying life. She loved her family and friends and will be dearly missed. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Miles Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling where she was a long time member.
