Theresa K. (Kerrigan) Shusas

April 25, 1947 — September 23, 2014

WORCESTER - Theresa (Kerrigan) Shusas, 67, a life-long resident of Worcester, died at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Her husband of 45 years, Gerald Shusas, predeceased her in September of 2013. Born in Worcester, Theresa was the daughter of Irish immigrants, James B. and Mary A. (Baynes) Kerrigan.

She graduated from Commerce High School in 1965 and was the secretary of the Math and Computer Science Department at Clark University for 43 years. Theresa was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She had a large, close-knit group of friends with whom she enjoyed traveling, attending the theater and sharing laughs. Her interests included Irish culture, particularly music and dance. She cherished her annual vacations to Maine and Cape Cod with her friends and family, along with her “girls weekends.” Her great sense of humor and Irish wit will be sorely missed.

Theresa is survived by her two daughters, Kaitlyn K. Shusas of Worcester and Emily J. Shusas of Niskayuna, NY; her sister, Mary Lizotte and her husband, Bernard of Buckeye, Arizona; two brothers-in-law, Paul T. Shusas and his wife, Christine of Worcester and Gary Shusas and his wife, Linda of Florida; nephews and nieces. Her brother, The Rev. James Kerrigan of Rutland, predeceased her.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 29, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Interment will be private in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
