Violet A. Gordon

PAXTON- Violet A Gordon, 96, beloved wife of the late Edward P. Gordon, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus. Born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Kearns) Masters.

Violet enjoyed a long secretarial career, a job she truly loved. She was a dedicated member of the Church on Seven Hills, the former Burncoat Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Club, taught Sunday School and made many lifelong friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, rug hooking, and was an avid Bruins fan.

She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her two daughters, Beverley Mulcahy and her husband Billy; Bobbi Lang and her husband Jim, all of Paxton; Daughter-in-law Tanya Gordon, of Worcester; her sons Barry Brown and his wife Christine, of New Brunswick, Canada; James Ferguson and his partner Susan Postell of Winthrop; Violet’s sister Margaret of New Brunswick, Canada and several nieces and nephews and family friends. Violet leaves four grandchildren, Robert of Lancaster, Catherine and her husband Sean of Worcester, Mitchell of Paxton; Sydney of Portland, Maine, and her great-granddaughter Maeve. In addition to her former husband, Robert Carleton, she was predeceased by her son, John Gordon in 2021 and her four brothers.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the JHC Hospice team and nursing staff at UMASS University Campus, for the exceptional care and compassion given to Violet and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paxton Fire Department, Church on Seven Hills, or the charity of one’s choice.
