HUBBARDSTON - William Robert Henderson, 57, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after being stricken ill at home earlier in the day.
Bill was born in Worcester and raised in Princeton, and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. Following his graduation, Bill enlisted with the United States Coast Guard, and was stationed at Cape May, New Jersey. Upon returning to the area, Bill embarked on a long career as a self employed carpenter, specializing in home repairs and remodels. Bill’s stubborn and tenacious attitude truly came through when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 1992. Throughout his illness, Bill displayed a strength that carried him through treatments and even a bone marrow transplant, which allowed him to live a pretty normal life for these past 20 years.
In 1996, Bill and the former Cynthia Hawes were married at a small ceremony in Reno, Nevada. They settled in Hubbardston, where Bill built the house they have shared since moving there. Besides Cindy, Bill leaves his mother, Marilyn M. (Spillane) Henderson of Worcester; his brother, Paul D. Henderson and his wife, Cindy of Holden; his nieces and nephews, Josh Henderson and his wife Jennifer, Emily Henderson, Andrew and Emily Bennett. He was predeceased by his father, Donald M. Henderson in 2013.
