Brookfield - Scott Sitterly, aged 79, passed away quietly in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family and his faithful dog, Digby. Scott, a resident of Brookfield, MA, was born in Syracuse, NY, but was no stranger to travel. He moved to the Netherlands in 1980 as a field service representative for Digital Holland and traveled throughout Europe with his young family. More recently, he and his wife and Digby spent their summers at their home in Nova Scotia.
While serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, Scott trained on computers and worked on the air defense system. After his discharge, he went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in the early days of the company. Because of his Air Force experience and his time at DEC, he was asked to consult during the development of the Computer Museum in Boston. Before his retirement, he was a software engineering manager at Aircuity in Newton, MA.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Beth, of Brookfield; his son, Brent, of Saint Albans, VT; and his three much-loved grandchildren, Lily, Hannah, and Connor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA), 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Suite 105, Lilburn, GA 30047.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, MA. A committal service will take place at Brookfield Cemetery at a later date.
