HOLDEN – Donald William Harvey, 88, of Holt Road, died Friday, October 24, 2008, in Saint Vincent Hospital. He was the husband of 67 years of Barbara Luey Harvey.
Born on February 24, 1920 in Worcester, he was the son of the late Oscar and Marion Webb Harvey, was a graduate of Holden High School and lived in Holden all of his life. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden and was a machinist at Norton Company for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a Mason and member of Rufus Putnam Lodge in Rutland.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Wolfahrt of Holden; a daughter, Linda Cheverton and her husband David of Madison Heights, Virginia; a son, Robert Harvey and his wife Diane of Holden; four grandchildren, Carin Prescott, Timothy Prescott and his wife Lisa, Michael Harvey and his wife Nancy, and Kristina Markiewicz and her husband Joseph; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Harvey, and Aaron Markiewicz; and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Wendell, predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A graveside service at Grove Cemetery, Holden, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gift Fund at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
